1. What makes the BWELL
programmes unique compared to other life coaching or counselling
services?
The depth and extent of solid university
based expertise and personal experience underlying the development
and facilitation of BWELL programmes means that our clients get
a unique systematically structured combination of practical
tools and strategies that is nowhere else available in this form.
This means that all our services and programmes are held together
by a consistent underlying philosophy of meeting the needs of real
people with real lives by making a wide variety of beneficial researched
facts accessible.
BWELL programmes integrate many different
approaches such as coaching, counselling, consultation, practical
skills training without being limited to any one of those.
We provide comprehensive and relevant knowledge and background information
on what to do and why in order to optimise one’s well-being.
We also make sure to “meet you were you are now”. This
means that you will be systematically guided through
steps of exploring, developing and practising the skills and techniques
to create and maintain personal well-being. Everything will be explained
and presented in straightforward language.
We always invite and encourage any questions
and comments about our services as critical thinking and healthy
scepticism is one hallmark of well-being in itself.
We teach, practise and rehearse practical skills with our
clients which they then can apply immediately in their
own life. We discuss any obstacles and solve problems with our clients
as they arise.
In our programmes you will get a comprehensive handbook
which you can easily refer to after having finished your programme
of choice. This handbook contains detailed background information
as well as self-explanatory exercises.
BWELL programmes, therefore, provide you with much more than narrow
goal focused support and pep-talk!
2. Is there a solid basis
for the BWELL programmes?
BWELL programmes are based on decades of
serious research across a number of scientific disciplines
such as (but not limited to) neuroscience, cognitive psychology,
paleoanthropology, clinical psychology, social psychology, paleobiology,
archaeology, sociology, biology, physics, environmental and evolutionary
psychology and anthropology. Helpful tools and techniques that have
empirical support together with scientific knowledge have been combined
into a unique package that will allow our customers to identify
possible areas of improvement and to make these improvements quickly
and confidently.
We aim to keep our programmes and processes transparent and free
from meaningless jargon and we are always very happy to explain
why we do what we do.
3. Are BWELL services
such as the Focused Awareness programme not some form of a weird,
new age or spiritual “cult”?
Absolutely not!
It is necessary to acknowledge that some aspects of our integrated
services, such as mindfulness training, have been around for a very
long time (about 2,500 years, actually) and have been done in connection
with certain philosophies such as Buddhism. However, over the past
25 years western psychology practitioners have started to research
and separate the techniques and strategies that bring benefits from
the spiritual and ideological background on which they had been
developed and practised previously.
Today, BWELL programmes are specifically designed to be
free from any of these spiritual connotations and can be
beneficially practised by anyone, regardless of their own beliefs.
There is no need whatsoever to blindly “buy into” or
“believe in” our models or programmes and there is no
“secret knowledge” to be revealed.
In fact, a healthy dose of scepticism and scientific thinking
is always encouraged and promoted as a crucial tool of creating
personal well-being.
4. What if I don’t
want to be locked into an endless commitment to a programme through
something like a “club membership” etc?
BWELL services don’t require you to
make any long-term commitment. Our aim is to provide you within
our systematically structured 8 session programmes
(Focused Awareness and LifeFulfillment)
with all the necessary tools and strategies to create and maintain
your best possible level of personal well-being.
For those clients who wish to continue with individual sessions
or to brush up their skills after having finished the programmes
we are happy to provide these services if and when requested by
the client.
At no point will there be any pressure on you to continue
beyond the 8 session programme of your choice.
5. Why should I spend
extra time and money on my personal well-being?
Subjective well-being has been found to promote
creative thinking, increased efficiency, performance and persistence
and a tendency to select higher goals. A sense of well-being improves
one’s ability to deal with inevitable stress and pain.
Well-being and positive emotions are also predictors of improved
health and longevity.
Far from being a self-indulgent luxury, BWELL programmes can help
you to maximise your potential at work or home, family or sport
through giving you the means to create and maintain your optimal
level of personal well-being.
Keep in mind that this is a life long investment
as you will be able to apply your new skills and techniques for
years and years to come.
Make also sure to compare the quality in regards to expertise
and experience behind life coaching services. At BWELL
you get services based on many years of relevant and university
based training as well as more than 20 years of personal experience.
6. Does well-being not
just happen or come from simple positive thinking anyway?
Actually, for most of our lives we are so
entangled in our daily routines, responsibilities and duties that
we often hardly notice what is going on. Have you ever thought:”
I can’t believe that a whole year has already gone by! Where
has the time gone?”
Sadly, if we are not careful, life can, indeed, pass us by and we
miss out on many good things as well as warning signs that our well-being
is not what it could be.
BWELL programmes give you the means to quickly check your state
of well-being and to make improvements if and when necessary.
Well-being does depend on a number of factors, which rarely come
together by chance alone. Our thinking and emotional patterns, our
relationships, our actions, our body and our sense of meaning and
purpose all play a role in the creation and maintenance of well-being.
Only BWELL offers you the necessary systematically structured
combination of tools and techniques that you can apply
quickly in your every-day life.
There is a clear need to be pro-active, to plan and to MAKE
WELL-BEING HAPPEN!
We can show you the “what and how to” of creating and
maintaining your optimal level of personal well-being.
7. Wouldn’t
everything be great if only I got my weight, job, relationship etc.
right?
A very common mistake is to pin your personal
well-being onto one single issue or aspect of your life. It is a
researched fact that achieving your ideal weight or perfect health,
having a great partner, getting the long desired promotion, building
your dream home or moving to a warm and sunny spot, by itself, does
definitely NOT improve your well-being substantially or for more
than a short period of time.
Maintained well-being is
the result of a combination of personal factors, circumstances and
active efforts across a range of life domains such as thinking,
feeling, body, actions, relationships and meaning and purpose. BWELL
programmes help you attending to all of these domains in the most
practical and beneficial way possible.
8. This sounds all very
interesting but can I still try it out first before I decide or
make any commitment?
Fair enough!
We understand that the BWELL concept of well-being creation and
maintenance is comparatively new to the public.
Therefore — as an introduction special — we offer absolutely
free group introductory sessions for our Focused
Awareness and LifeFulfillment programmes.
Introductory sessions on an individual basis will be at a discounted
price.
These sessions will give you a much better insight into our programmes,
what we do and why we do it in our particular way. You will have
a chance to get a first actual taste of “hands on exercises”
and to meet the facilitators themselves.
All this comes with absolutely no obligations and no pressure
to buy or to commit to anything!
It is our conviction that well-being has to be build on
an ongoing personal commitment that cannot be enforced or imposed
in any way.
